Further Research

After the succesfull defend of my graduation thesis, I went to the department of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the University of Miami to work on my research for three months. The main objective at this moment is to know more about the behavior of the compressed cylindrical balloons and their compression resistence. During the graduation project a small experimental test was done, but this was just to have a little understanding. In Miami I am trying to make numerical models and analytical calculations to determine stresses and vertical deformations. Afterwards these calculations will be verified by lab tests.

As soon as more is known about the compression bahavior of the balloons, the outcoming data can be used in the mechanism research. The stiffness of the bars will be non-linear and have another influence on the bahavior of the 2D cross section, so more reliable simulations can be done.
