Walter Benjamin

Walter Benjamin was a man who observed the streets and passages of Paris and wrote down all the things he saw. He lived from 1892 till 1940.

Walter Benjamin described how the sauntering of the bourgeoisie started and how the poor and lonely lived on the streets. Many interesting scenes from the street, as daily life was in those days. At one side the new ritsh, the bourgeoisie, and on the other side the rag pickers, prostitutes and gamblers.

His most important observations for my design are noted in this document.

The text that gave me the most inspiration during this project was a poem of Baudelair (mentioned by Benjamin): Crowds
