Georg Simmel
From the concept of observing of the people of Paris, who developed in a totally new way of behavior (also by the crowdedness in the city, but also for new city designs and plans by Haussman), I met the works of Georg Simmel. He wrote very interesting papers about the new metropolist ; "On individuality and social focus;, The metropolist and mental life".
According to Simmel; people who life in crowded and fast city will react differently to its surroundings. He will start to ignore the stimuli, because there are too many to respond on. He will more concentrate himself on personal goals like career and money, while he finally forgets to enjoy his main target of enjoying his successes. He changes into a one-goal person who has lost his conciseness of feelings. But still this person is able to enjoy the pleasures of small community life in the big cities to fulfill this human need.
