ToyHouse; Design

To translate the concept as good as possible to a toy-look design, I created spaces for their pleasure times, but also spaces for more serious activities. The configuration of functional spaces, like the kitchen, are connected by both the serious as the pleasure spaces, like the climbing rack etc. The situation at the water creates more possibilities to anticipate.

To from the concept, I looked for several kinds of toys for inspiration. The most inspiring toys were LEGO, KNEX and Mecano. I used the colors of these toys because the combinations make the toys so childlike. I used the unit system of LEGO as a volume concept and combined the systems of KNEX and Mecano for the structure system.

The configuration of spaces are determined by traffic routes, contact of spaces by function, sun light, water side and heights. The space between the four poles and surround it was limited and this made the design a challenge. After all I managed to create comfortable spaces, which are very qualified for their use. The external looks of the building will tell passengers immediately what kind of people live in this building.
